Nine ‘illegal’ colleges forced to close in South Africa this year

The institutions lacked the required registrations and accreditations, says higher education minister

The South African Department of Higher Education and Training says it has identified and closed nine “illegal” institutions of higher learning in the country so far this year.

This comes after higher education minister Blade Nzimande warned parents and students of the scourge of institutions offering bogus qualifications earlier this year.
