Research will balance mining efficiency and environmental protection in South Africa’s minerals sector
Stellenbosch University in South Africa launched a chair in geometallurgy on 17 October, in partnership with one of the country’s mining companies.
The chair will be shared between two Stellenbosch researchers—Bjorn von der Heyden and Margreth Tadie—who together will study ways to make South Africa’s minerals industry more efficient as well as more responsive to the needs of environmental protection.
