Shabir Madhi recognised for “extraordinary leadership” during Covid-19 pandemic

South African vaccine scientist Shabir Madhi has received a British honour in recognition of his services to science and health.

Last month, the UK government updated its list of honorary awards to foreign nationals in 2023, adding Madhi as a recipient of a CBE. The CBE is one of the awards bestowed by the UK’s monarch on individuals for services to society.
