South Africa unveils initiatives to boost ‘circular economy’

   

Aim is to move away from wasteful “take, make and dispose” development paradigm

The Department of Science and Innovation in South Africa has launched new initiatives that seek to accelerate the development of a circular economy in the country.

A cornerstone of the country’s 2019 White Paper on Science, Technology and Innovation, it will focus on restoration and regeneration, as opposed to the current “take, make and dispose” approach to development, the DSI says.
