Public accounts committee refuses to sit after Buti Manamela’s last-minute cancellation
The public accounts oversight committee of South Africa’s parliament refused to hear presentations this week from two troubled national education funding bodies after Buti Manamela, the deputy higher education minister, failed to appear at the meeting.
Upon Manamela’s last-minute cancellation, MPs on the Standing Committee on Public Accounts resolved unanimously to postpone its 3 September hearing with the National Skills Fund (NSF) and the National Students Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).
