Gambia looks to South Africa for reform ideas

Year of science to kick-start science and innovation drive

The Gambia intends to use South Africa as a model for developing policy frameworks to improve its science and technology performance and transform itself into an economic success story.

The plan took off on 19 January when Gambia’s president Yahya Jammeh declared 2012 a year of science, technology and innovation when he took office for a fourth five-year term.
