Nigerian biochemist Viola Onwuliri has been named minister of education following the resignation of her predecessor last month.
Onwuliri, who replaces Nyensom Wike, lectured at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, until president Goodluck Jonathan announced her appointment on 22 October.
Her ministry oversees the higher and basic education sectors.
