An additional 16 Nigerian universities will be connected to a high-speed computer network that allows institutions to share large volumes of data.
Joshua Atah, the project coordinator for the Nigerian Research and Education Network, says 290 kilometres of fibre optic cable are being rolled out to 16 federal universities.
“It is in imperative that we connect all the universities in Nigeria to the network soonest,” he said in an interview after Ibrahim Shakarau, the minister of education, toured the network’s offices last month.
