Nigerian government demotes health science university

The Federal University of Health Sciences in Nigeria has been downgraded to a college of medicine by the federal government.

The move reverses a decision by former national president Goodluck Jonathan to upgrade the institution to university status along with four other colleges of education.

The school now reverts to being a part of the University of Agriculture Makurdi, the vice-chancellor of the UAM, Emmanuel Kucha, said.
