A West Africa-based food security initiative has moved to its second stage of developing joint research programmes between Africa and Europe.
The European Commission in partnership with the Ghana-based Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa backs the IntensAfrica initiative for agricultural research. Other backers include France’s agriculture for development agency CIRAD, and Wageningen University in the Netherlands.
The first phase was carried out by Wageningen, and involved exploring and identifying interest for joint programmes. The second phase, PROIntensAfrica, kicked off on 23 April in Accra, Ghana.
