Academy head elected to US National Academy of Medicine

Oyewole Tomori, the president of the Nigerian Academy of Science, has been elected to the US National Academy of Medicine.

Tomori is one of nine international members to be included in the academy’s class of 2016, announced on 17 October. They are welcomed alongside 70 regular members of the organisation.

The Nigerian was elected for his role in establishing the Africa regional polio laboratory network, which paved the way for laboratory networks for yellow fever, measles and other haemorrhagic fevers, NAM said.
