Creativity can beat funding doldrums, Nigerian academics told

Nigerian academics have been advised to come up with creative ways to attract research funding, given the country’s tough economic situation.

This view comes from Ibim Semenitari, the director of one of Nigeria’s biggest oil agencies, the Niger Delta Development Commission.

Semenitari made his call on 15 August at the Federal University of Technology Akure, in Ondo State, southwest Nigeria, during a lecture on funding options for higher education and research.
