African countries should copy developed countries and pool their research and education resources, according to Senegal’s science minister, Mary Teuw Niane.
“We have the same goal and so instead of working separately we should work together to create synergies,” the minister said on 28 November as he opened a dialogue on science, technology and innovation in Dakar.
The three-day conference was organised by his ministry, the Economic Commission for Africa, and the African Union Commission. The theme was ‘Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation and the African integration and development agenda’.
