Anderson gets rail research centre rolling

Australia’s former deputy prime minister, John Anderson launched a new transport research centre at a world congress on railway research in Sydney.

The Australasian Centre for Rail Innovation will replace the Cooperative Research Centre for Rail Innovation, which ends its seven year research programme in mid 2014. The CRC successfully established collaborative research between the railway industry and universities.

Anderson will chair the ACRI, which will be based in Canberra, and supported by the Australasian Railway Association and the Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board.
