Australia must build its ability to use broadband better

One in five Australian adults still does not use the internet, according to a report by the Australian Centre for Broadband Innovation.

And that’s a problem when an increasing number of government and financial services are being delivered online. The report found that despite claims that we’re living in “a digital age”, Australia is currently underprepared for the complexity and challenges of next generation broadband technology.

The report, Bridging the Broadband Gap, was published on 9 December. It’s compiled from community surveys, interviews with business leaders, data analysis and peer-reviewed economic and social research. The Commonwealth Science and Industrial Research Organisation’s digital productivity and services research flagship was also involved in developing the report.
