ANU ponders the future shape of doctorate degrees

The impact of globalisation on Australian doctoral research will be discussed in a four-part lecture series at the Australian National University in Canberra.

“Should we be worried about the PhD?” is the title of the first lecture, which will look at global, national and local trends and challenges in doctoral studies and what they mean for ANU staff.

The lecture series begins on 17 March and will be presented by Margaret Kiley, a visiting fellow at the ANU Research School of Humanities and the Arts. She has researched and taught at universities in Australia, Indonesia and Britain, and presented workshops on research supervision in Malaysia, Canada, the United States and New Zealand. Her area of research expertise has focused on changes to doctoral studies, including the introduction of coursework.
