Melbourne to host $10m virtual reality centre

Global software developer EON Reality will set up Asia’s first interactive digital centre at Deakin University’s campus in Melbourne.

The multimedia company is a world leader in virtual reality and augmented reality systems that are used in industry and education to train students to deal with real-world situations in disciplines such as engineering and medicine.

EON Reality has invested more than $10 million in the centre, which will open in 2016.  It will include an EON Idome, a patented multi-user immersive and high-resolution interactive 3D dome that will be used for outreach programmes to explain the applications of virtual and augmented reality systems.
