VU historian researches crooked land deals in Ohio

Australian historian John Tully has published a regional history of colonial settlement and dispossession of Native American communities in the United States.

Tully, who teaches at Victoria University in Melbourne, has researched settlement of the Cuyahoga Valley in Ohio in the early nineteenth century. It is his sixth book, and grew out of research for a previous history in 2011 on the rubber industry in Ohio.

Tully has also published three novels, including Robbed of Every Blessing, which examined the transportation of Irish political activists to Australian penal settlements.
