Talking cigarette packet tells smokers to quit

Scientists in Western Australia have created a “talking” cigarette case that reminds smokers why they should kick their nicotine habit.

Researchers at Edith Cowan University and Curtin University have designed a plastic cigarette case with a speaker and microphone that allows smokers to record a personal message to encourage them to quit. The message plays every time the case is opened.

Announcing this quirky, but hopefully effective, innovation, ECU psychologist Paul Chang said the idea was to remind the smoker of their motivation for stopping.
