Canberra academic Gordon Peake has won the Australian Capital Territory Book of the Year award for a memoir of his four-year foreign aid posting to Timor-Leste.
He also won the ACT government’s inaugural People’s Choice book award for Beloved Land: Stories, struggles and secrets from Timor-Leste.
Peake is a research fellow at the Australian National University’s College of Asia and the Pacific, and has published widely on peacekeeping and police reform.
