VU aims to boost understanding of Indigenous culture

Victoria University in Melbourne has launched an Indigenous cultural awareness training course for all staff to increase their knowledge of Aboriginal culture and history.

The two-hour course was developed by VU’s Moondani Balluk Academic Unit to help university staff understand, recognise and acknowledge cultural differences.

It also explores issues such as the impact of European settlement, Aboriginal deaths in police custody and the separation of families and institutionalising of children that is now referred to as the Stolen Generations.
