Project aims to shield ships from radio attacks

British aerospace company BAE Systems has received research funding from the Australian government to develop and test a navy counter-surveillance technology.

Announcing the grant on 23 November, defence industry minister Christopher Pyne said it was part of a Defence R&D project known as Cuttlefish, which has been allocated $4.9 million.

Pyne said that BAE will work with the Royal Australian Navy to explore technology that can block radio surveillance and “hostile targeting” of navy ships and land-based operations.
