Daylight saving could reduce koala roadkill

Adopting daylight saving time in south-east Queensland could help reduce the number of koalas killed by cars on major roads, according to a study led by the University of Queensland in Brisbane.

Researchers tracked wild koalas in the Brisbane region and compared their movements with traffic patterns along roads where koalas were frequently killed or injured by collisions with cars.

The research results are published online in Biology Letters.
