Deal agreed on US research partnership

Australia has signed a science and innovation pact with the United States to foster increased research partnerships between the two countries.

The agreement follows several recent speeches by prime minister Malcolm Turnbull that have stressed the importance of working with the US to develop and expand Australia’s digital technology research capabilities.

It replaces the current agreement between Australia and the US on scientific and technical cooperation, which expires in February 2017.
