NCRIS grants cover costs of upgrading equipment

Federal education minister Simon Birmingham has announced grants worth $16 million for 10 research infrastructure projects.

These include $7m to upgrade super-computing facilities at the Australian National University in Canberra, and $2m to national research network, Bioplatforms Australia, for equipment to expand its genomics research.

The University of Tasmania receives $1.3m to update marine research equipment and the University Sydney was awarded $1.4m to fund changes to the Australian Microscopy and Microanalysis Research Facility.
