Music producer a role model for disruptive career change

Digital technologies and artificial intelligence have “killed” aspects of the local music industry, a leading Australian music producer has said.

Rob Taylor, who has produced more than 70 albums for groups such as INXS, Yothu Yindi and The Whitlams, took up postgraduate study after his work was affected by cheaper digital studio production technologies.

Taylor enrolled in an audio and acoustics masters degree at the University of Sydney and then completed a PhD in communication and media at the University of Newcastle in regional New South Wales.
