Plan to overhaul Adelaide’s housing with more shared spaces

Councils working with researcher on innovative housing designs to suit an ageing population

University of South Australia researcher Damian Madigan is working with four Adelaide city councils to design shared multigenerational housing for older residents.

Madigan, a senior lecturer in architecture, says new housing designs are “desperately needed” to enable people to remain in their neighbourhoods as they age by adapting their homes to shared living.
