Study shows young rural doctors have higher work satisfaction

Results could help boost recruitment in remote areas

Junior doctors based in Australia’s rural towns tend to have higher job satisfaction than their city counterparts because of more varied work and a better work-life balance, a University of New South Wales study has found.

It is the first national study of junior doctors and has implications for recruitment strategies to encourage more doctors to work in rural areas. The findings are published online in the Australian Journal of Rural Health.
