Teachers are frontline responders to child bushfire trauma

South Australian study calls for better training to help teachers deal with natural disasters

 Early childhood teachers play a vital role in helping children deal with, and recover from, traumatic events such as bushfires, according to a study by the University of South Australia in Adelaide.

Lead researcher Marjory Ebbeck, who is professor of early childhood education at the university, says teachers can provide a secure environment for children affected by trauma.
