Sports training support for Australia’s disabled defence veterans

The University of South Australia has signed a deal with the Australian Defence Force to provide sports training and physiotherapy for injured and disabled military veterans competing in international sports events.

The agreement will support ADF members taking part in adaptive sports trials such as selection for the Invictus Games and Warrior Games.

These international sporting events support the physical and mental rehabilitation of defence staff coping with serious injuries, disabilities and post-traumatic stress disorder. They include sports such as archery, cycling, swimming, wheelchair basketball, powerlifting and track and field events.
