Wollongong vice-chancellor announces decision to step down

University praises ‘exceptional leader’ who has strengthened its academic and research reputation

Paul Wellings is to step down as vice-chancellor of the University of Wollongong on 30 June 2021, after almost a decade in the role.

In a university statement, Wollongong chancellor Jillian Broadbent described Wellings as “an exceptional leader” who had transformed the university’s academic and research reputation.
