Threat of sexual assault for transgender women is ‘all pervasive’, women’s health psychologist says
Sexual assault and harassment are “everyday experiences” for transgender women of colour in Australia, with racism and transphobia increasing the risk of violence, a national survey by Western Sydney University has found.
The study involved 2,295 women across Australia and included almost 200 transgender women. Around 15 per cent of the transgender participants were from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
