The Turnbull government has re-opened funding bids for Cooperative Research Centres, ending an 18-month hiatus after deep cuts to science programmes in the previous Abbott government’s federal budget of May 2014.
Bidding for new CRCs will begin February 2016, and federal guidelines for the process will be published later in December.
The CRC Association’s chief executive Tony Peacock said the 2016 round will include bids for short-term projects, introduced following a federal review of the programme in May.
