CRC guide plans to help create cooler cities

A national guide to reduce radiant heat from streetscapes and buildings in Australia’s major cities has been launched by the Cooperative Research Centre for Low Carbon Living.

The CRC’s Guide to Urban Cooling Strategies covers urban heat mitigation strategies for all climate zones across Australia.

It is based on a three-year study of microclimates in varying urban landscapes that ranged from dense inner city business districts to middle and outer suburbs. The CRC project by led by University of New South Wales director of sustainable development, Paul Osmond.
