Centre ‘could make Australia a world leader in the advanced manufacture of lower-cost, energy-efficient housing’
A proposal to reduce waste and carbon emissions from Australia’s housing construction industry has received federal funding to set up a seven-year research programme.
The Building 4.0 Cooperative Research Centre aims to design more energy-efficient and sustainable homes, and to “redefine the culture and identity” of Australia’s male-dominated building industry. It plans to cut building industry carbon emissions by 50 per cent and construction waste by 80 per cent.
