Research centres backed by AU$148m funding

The government is to provide AU$148 million in funding for six Cooperative Research Centres.

The successful applicants of this year’s CRC selection round were announced on 22 November.

A total of 26 applications was received and the six successful CRCs are: Automotive Australia 2020, which received AU$26m; Low Carbon Living (AU$28m); Polymers ($14.5m); Water Sensitive Cities (AU$30m); Invasive Animals (AU$19.7m); Plant Biosecurity (AU$29.7m).

The CRC programme is a government initiative that was launched in 1991.

A CRC is an incorporated or unincorporated organisation formed through collaborative partnerships between publicly funded researchers and end users.
