A research centre focusing on solutions for sustainable natural resource use in Australia’s tropics opened in Townsville, Queensland, on 12 July.
According to Kim Carr, the innovation minister, the Australian Tropical Sciences and Innovation Precinct will be of particular benefit to communities in North Queensland, who rely on the region’s reefs and rainforests for their livelihood.
