Australia has joined the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), the organisation announced on 23 October.
IIASA specialises in the use of advanced systems analysis to study global challenges, such as energy, water, food, climate change and population growth.
CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency, will represent Australia on the governing council, joining 19 other nations that fund IIASA and have a say in the direction of its research.
Other members include China, Finland, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Russia, South Africa, South Korea and the US.
