CSIRO names chief for land and water division

Paul Bertsch, director of the Tracy Farmer Institute for Sustainability and the Environment at the University of Kentucky in the US, is to head the land and water division of CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency.

The division is one of the largest within the agency, with more than 500 staff across Australia.

Bertsch will take up his post in February 2013, replacing acting chief Jennifer Stauber, who has held the position since 2008, said a CSIRO announcement on 21 November.
