Australia presents nanotechnology vision

The federal government should establish a panel of experts from academia and industry to develop a national framework for translating nanotechnology research, according to the Australian Academy of Science.

The academy’s National Nanotechnology Research Strategy published on 7 December said the focus should be on bringing scientists and industry together and helping translate research into new industries.

Multidisciplinary research in nanoscience and nanotechnology must be “well supported” through money for projects, equipment and facilities, the strategy says. But specific levels of funding are not mentioned.
