CSIRO digital research flagship loses its captain

One of Australia’s leading digital technology engineers has resigned as director of a $40 million national research programme at the country’s top science agency.

Ian Oppermann is leaving the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation to become chief executive officer at Sirca Technology in Sydney. The company is a global leader in developing technology for the banking and finance industries.

His departure comes just over two years after he was appointed to head one of CSIRO’s most ambitious research programmes.
