Australia Council trims red tape for arts grants

The Australia Council for the Arts has introduced a streamlined grants system designed to make it simpler and easier for artists and writers to apply for funding.

The new system follows the launch of the council’s strategic review and five-year plan in 2014, which promised to create “a more flexible and efficient” arts grants programme.

“We will change our funding programmes so that artists can apply for the funding they need, without having to fit their practice into art form categories,” the report said.
