Federal health minister Sussan Ley has announced the first Australian medical research centres to be set up under a strategy developed in 2014 by the National Health and Medical Research Council.
Ley’s announcement on 28 March follows a call for applications by the NHMRC in 2014 under its Advanced Health Research and Translation Centres programme.
The aim of the centres is to create partnerships between hospitals, universities and research institutes that will rapidly translate research findings into clinical practice and improve the efficiency of Australia’s health system.
