Indigenous health a focus for NHMRC funding

Australia’s biggest medical research funding agency has announced more than 300 grants totaling $190 million, including $58m to support research fellowships.

In its 2016 round of competitive, peer-assessed grants, the National Health and Medical Research Council has made Indigenous health a priority.

The NHMRC has allocated $10.6m to support research that includes treating high rates of depression among Indigenous people, preventing and treating fetal alcohol syndrome and programmes to reduce domestic violence.
