Hunt maps out CSIRO’s future research role

Federal science minister Greg Hunt has told Australia’s top science agency it must engage in “pure public good” research, and make climate change one of its main priorities.

Hunt lists eight research priorities in a ministerial Statement of Expectations sent to board members of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation on 21 November.

They are plant biology and agriculture, human health, climate change science, environmental research, resource and energy management, astronomy, advanced manufacturing and data science.
