Call for overhaul of ‘outdated’ tertiary qualifications system

Framework should shift from measuring learning in years to measuring in hours, review says

An independent federal review has recommended “substantial reforms” to Australia’s education qualifications system, describing it as deeply flawed and outdated.

It says the Australian Qualifications Framework—which sets standards for senior secondary and tertiary education—has not kept pace with social and economic challenges to the country’s higher education systems.
