Chief scientist warns against human rights risks of data collection

Monash conference told universities must watch AI ethics dilemmas

Australia’s universities must lead debate on the ethical risks of artificial intelligence and potential human rights impacts, the country’s chief scientist has told a national science conference.

Alan Finkel said that while AI can offer benefits in areas such as medical technologies and financial services, there are complex questions relating to collection, ownership and use of data.
