Auditor wants public submissions on crystal meth strategy

Australia’s auditor-general Grant Hehir is calling for public comment on the implementation and effectiveness of a national drug strategy to tackle the social and economic impacts of addiction to crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as ice.

The Australian National Audit Office in Canberra is conducting a federal government performance audit of the Department of Health’s administration of the national ice action strategy.

The strategy was launched in 2016 by the Turnbull government, following a federal taskforce report on the increasing use of crystal methamphetamine.
