Audit finds lack of action on bee biosecurity research

The federal Department of Agriculture failed to act on calls by a government inquiry to increase monitoring of biosecurity risks to Australia’s bee pollination and honey industries, a report by the auditor-general has said.

The Australian National Audit Office examined the performance of four government departments and agencies in acting on recommendations made by its reports and by federal government inquiries.

It found that none could demonstrate that “they had effectively implemented all agreed recommendations”.
