Catastrophic storm damages university buildings and destroys ‘more than 20 years of crop science research’
A violent hailstorm in Canberra has destroyed agricultural research glasshouses and damaged more than 80 buildings across the Australian National University campus in Acton.
The storm swept across the city on 20 January, leaving a trail of damage to government buildings and national research institutions. These include the National Archives, the National Botanic Gardens and the Australian Academy of Science, which are likely to face damage repairs costing millions of dollars.
